Cambodian Rendezvous

Day 1

nothing on day 1 so i'll make this a 2 part season premier.. haha... here goes..

it all started with a flight........... you dont seriously think i'd start this post like this do you?

on the plane

well my family and i took an Air Asia flight to KL and was delayed at KLIA for our flight to Cambodia... we arrived at the capital city, Phnom Penh at 5.10pm local time... oh by the way, Cambodia is an hour behind Malaysia.. well thanks to the delay at KLIA, we got stuck in a traffic jam... rush hour... we finally arrived at a restaurant called Khmer Surin.. Khmer is the Cambodian language or also refer to their people.. food there was pretty good... we had a taste of the famous Amok Chicken... its like curry but sweet...

Khmer Surin..

after dinner we checked into our hotel.. the name of the hotel is Mittapheap Hotel... =.= the rooms were ok.. not much to see outside the hotel so we decided to sleep early..

Petronas Station in the midle of KLIA...

our plane was next to the Manchester United Air Asia plane.. =(

Plane food... whee... =.=

Day 2

woke up pretty late.. not a good way to start your vacation.. had breakfast at the hotel.. the bus took us to Wat Phnom.. it the first temple in the capital city and also where the city started.. we then headed to the Imperial Palace where the King of Cambodia still resides.. the design is similar to the Royal Palace in Bangkok..

Wat Phnom..

there was this Silver Pagoda within the palace grounds and the first thing that went through my mind was a Pagoda made of silver.... well, its not really that.. its actually a place where the King and other people worship the Emerald Buddha (again similar to Bangkok)... the floor, however, has silver tiles weighing 1kg each.. they dont allow photography inside the Pagoda but i managed to snap some under my arms..

Imperial Palace..

National Artifact Museum was the next stop.. the museum displays many statues and artifacts from the Pre-Angkor, Angkor, and Post-Angkor period.. there were LOADS.. but you cant take pictures without official permission... dumb people..

National Artifact Museum.... and dad..

why is there barisan logos in Phnom Penh??

lunch was at Tonle Bassac.. its a buffet of local food... not bad but could be better.. we stopped by a souvenir shop after lunch... Pailin Souvenirs... Pailin, my favourite Amazing Race Asia contestant, isnt the owner and thank god for that... the shop sucked.. haha..

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, our next location, was one that i never want to visit again... it was a prison during the war in Cambodia and before becoming a prison, it used to be a school... the cruelty of mankind sent chills up my spine and made me thank god i live in the 21st century...

the rules of the S-21 prison..

illustration of how they kill babies... monsters..!!

pictures of some of the kids imprisoned and killed in the prison..

after that enlightening visit, we headed to the Russian Market.. its called a Russian Market because it used to be where the Russians stay during the communist regime... shopping was obviously the thing there..

them people so proud of their Lexus.. there are more like this one around..

the local Tuk-Tuk..

dinner sucked big time... King Suki Soup = steamboat... heck my family makes better steamboats... dumbass restaurant..

that's all for the series premier... haha..

I'm home...!!
yes my Cambodian adventure is over and i'm partly relieved yet sad...

we explored many temples, wat or prasat as they call it, and my feet are screaming for comfort but it was worth it..
i have finally crossed out Angkor Wat off my list of places to see and may have added a few more onto the "SEEN LIST"..

places i've been to are Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Banterey Srei, Tonle Sap, i've even seen the great Mekong River..!!

i bet you guys are expecting a long post... well i'm nt posting everything at once.. i'm doing it in parts.. one part is about a day in Cambodia..

Coming Soon....

I'm Back...

yes people... i'm back... its been awhile but what the heck...

SPM isnt as bad as it was said to be but who am i to judge? i didnt even study... so yes SPM is over... whee =.= i dont feel the excitement...

i need a job.. well i wanna coach but someone wont return me my class for this month.. asshole.. i'm going to see Teng Hin and ask for more classes at a regular basis... i dont mind coaching everyday..

anyway the Penang Junior Closed just started today... i only entered the u-17 event as i am not fit.. i had the most misfortune of meeting the crow in the quarters... which sucked.. i lost to him 9-1, 9-4, 9-6.... i dare say thought that it was my best performance against him ever.. unfortunately more is needed to overcome the dark force.. LOL..

i will be playing against Alamin from Tin Club tomorrow and i'm not happy... the last meeting between us ended on the losing side for me... it was at the Tin Club and i was playing for my team SAP.. i hope to turn things around this time and put my experience to good use.. after all, i wont be playing tournaments for long...

had my bath after all that and took Shu Lynn out for dinner... went to Nandos at new Gurney... after that i head upstairs to check out phones and its finally here!! no not the Nokia 5800 but the Nokia n79!! i love that phone... unfortunately being an N-Series phone, it is priced at RM1899... a steep price for me.. but i will not rest until i have either the 5800 or the n79.. but another option would be the Sony Ericsson C905... its great and all and cheaper than the n79 by a few hundred but the camera is a little too much for a phone.. 8.1 megapixels? really?

i've waited for the Sony Ericsson Xperia and its finally here but the price is close to RM3000... that is just too much... anyway i will stop typing... will bring more updates soon i hope but for now i leave you all with a picture of the Nokia n79...

return of the fine print? i dont think so... not now at least.. hahah... got you looking didnt i Allan? ;)
